The Eee PC 1000HD is a netbook from Asus that supports the Linux operating system and has an internal memory capacity of up to 80GB on hard disk drive (HDD) with expandability via MMC/SD (SDHC) cards slots. It has 1GB DDR2 RAM and is powered by the 900MHz Intel Celeron M 353 processor.
The netbook has a 10-inch, 1024 x 600 pixels, LED backlight display, has Draft-N Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n) and 10/100 Fast Ethernet networking capabilities, has Bluetooth® connectivity, three USB.0 ports, one VGA video, one headphone and one microphone port interface. Audio support is via Realtek ALC662 Hi-Definition Audio 5.1 CODEC, built-in stereo speakers and built-in microphone. The device also has Kensington lock slot and shared USB2.0. There are two PCI Express Mini Card connectors: one occupied by the wireless network card; another empty slot that is accessible from opening on back of unit and supports only Asus-approved SSD expansion units. It has a 1.3 megapixel webcamera. The Eee PC 1000HD is powered by a 6 cells (6600 mAh) battery that provides up to 4.6-hours of operating time. The netbook weighs 3.19 pounds (51 ounces) and measures 10.5 × 7.5 × 1.5 inches.
The ASUS Eee PC 1000HD is a full-sized laptop in a compact body with a10-inch screen powered by the latest Intel mobile processor and is preinstalled with the Linux operating system. Weighing just over 3 pounds, the Eee PC 1000HD provides connectivity on the go with its Wi-Fi capabilities of picking up hotspots anytime anywhere. The Eee PC 1000HD features a 900 MHz Ultra Low Voltage Intel Celeron M processor, an 80 GB hard disk drive (HDD), 1 GB of RAM, 1.3-megapixel webcam integrated into the bezel above the LCD, 54g Wi-Fi networking (802.11b/g/n), integrated Bluetooth connectivity, Secure Digital memory card slot, multiple USB ports, a VGA output for connecting to a monitor. It’s also equipped with the ASUS Super Hybrid Engine for automatic detection and adjustments of CPU frequency, voltage, and LCD brightness to minimize system noise and power consumption to save up to 15 percent power consumption, or to maximize system performance according to individual needs. The Eee PC 1000HD has a customized, Infusion casing technology in Fine Ebony. Inlaid within the chassis itself, the motifs are an integral part of the entire cover and will not fade with time. The Infusion surface also provides scratch resistance for the device. The keyboard is 95 percent the size of standard notebooks. The Eee PC 1000HD has a 10-inch wide TFT LCD with a 1024 x 600-pixel resolution (WXGA) and integrated 54g wireless LAN that’s fully compatible with 802.11b/g wireless networks. With the Bluetooth connectivity, users can communicate and synchronize with Bluetooth-enabled peripherals such as PDAs and cell phones. In addition to its wireless LAN, it also offers wired Fast Ethernet (10/100) connectivity and a 56K modem. Users are provided with three USB 2.0 ports, a VGA output for connecting to external monitors, headphone and microphone jacks, and a Secure Digital (SD) memory card slot (compatible with MMC memory cards). It’s equipped with a 1.3-megapixel webcam (placed in the bezel above the LCD) and integrated microphone, allowing users to snap still photos of them while on the go and share them with family and friends. The combination of the Intel Celeron M processor with ASUS Super Hybrid Engine, users can enjoy a battery lifespan of up to 4.6 hours, allowing them to stay in touch and be connected for a longer period of time while on-the-go. It offers a choice of performance and power consumption modes for adjustments according to computing needs. The Super Hybrid Engine toggles between the following three modes: High Performance Mode (high performance with some power savings); Super Performance Mode (maximum performance) and Power Saving Mode (maximum power savings and minimum noise). The Celeron M 353 has a 900 MHz speed is complemented by a 400MHz front-side bus (FSB) and a 512 KB L2 cache. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up the system’s performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance). ASUS also provides 10 GB of online storage (accessible via a desktop icon), which enables users to download up to 5 GB of data per day. It also provides secure file encryption and accessibility from both Windows and Linux platforms. Users can now access data without space constraints to share images with friends and family or store big business presentations. The Eee Storage service is complimentary for the first 18 months, and it must be registered within the first 6 months after date of purchase. The ASUS Eee PC 1000HD comes with an AC adapter and printed operating instructions. It’s backed by a 1-year warranty on parts and labor.
