Another award for Asus netbook

Seems that Asus is having all the luck in the awards’ area recently. Starting off in April, where the renowned brand grabbed awards and now we are hearing that Asus has grabbed itself another award but this time, it’s for an unreleased netbook. This news is astonishing to some as the brand itself has never formally announced the availability of this netbook. It was merely a rumor before but now since it has won an award, this does prove its existence.
The Asus Eee PC 1218 has won a Red Dot product design award. Unfortunately, publicly there were no information submitted by the brand about this product but online experts managed to make the most of it by judging the model number and the images of the device. It is said that the netbook comes with a 12-inch display and it is covered by a plastic chassis. From the pictures, it seems that the Eee PC 1218 is the thinnest netbook from Asus. The netbook offers its video and data ports on the back edge of the netbook. Well, until Asus officially releases more details, we’ll keep you updated.
Asus will soon launch Eee Pad

Doesn’t the Eee Pad sound a bit alike the iPad? Maybe but it’s an Asus device. If you remember some time back, we announced that there was a rumor on a possible tablet by Asus and now the rumor has a release date.
According to online reports, Asus will finally introduce the new Android tablet in June and further reports suggest that shipping to customers will begin by July. Asus has earlier claimed that the new device will compete with Apple’s iPad and that it will have quite a number of features that will surely appeal to its own set of consumers. Apple’s very own iPad has been creating waves with the latest being that Apple will sell around 9 million iPads this year.
A report from Taiwan suggests that Asus will call the device, Eee Pad. The tablet will have an Nvidia Tegra processor and will run on Android. It is estimated to be priced between US$479 and US$510.
Acer will launch new 10-inch Aspire One netbook with AMD CPU

Rumor has it that Acer will soon launch a new netbook in the Aspire One range and the device is said to have a 10-inch display. The new netbook will have the usual Intel Atom chip configuration for a brand-new AMD platform.
The new model has been named Acer Aspire One 521. This model will be released with a single-core V105 processor clocked at 1.2GHz. The new processor features a 512KB L2 Cache, DDR3 support and a TDP of 9W. There’s the M880G chipset and the 45nm Geneva processor in the netbook. Also included will be Mobility Radeon HD 4225 graphics with 384MB of dedicated video memory. As mentioned before, this chipset is new and hasn’t yet featured in any device. Playing HD video should be no problem with the new processor.
The Aspire One 521 will also have an HDMI output and optional Bluetooth 3 support. There will be a compact charger and the battery featured will last for about 7 hours. As of now, there are no details on the price and availability of this device until Acer releases an official statement.
Dell rumored to release two more netbooks

News doing the rounds on the internet apparently consists of leaked documents courtesy of the Android Central site that reveal Dell upcoming devices. It is rumored that this year Dell will release two new netbooks that will be based on Google’s operating system’s Android.
Also in the news, Dell might be releasing a new version of the Looking Glass tablet and rumor has it that it will be called the Looking Glass Pro. The Looking Glass Pro tablet is said to have an “HD” screen. There were rumors some time back that Dell will be releasing two new mobile phones but instead only one has been leaked so far but there are two new netbooks that are supposed to be released this year.
Back to the main two netbooks. They are said to be named Athens and Sparta respectively. These netbooks have similar features including 11-inch screens and an ARM processor. The Dell Sparta netbook seems to come with a swiveling display. Meanwhile, the Dell Athens is said to weight not more than 2 pounds. These are all the details that we have until Dell officially releases more.
Details on the Asus Eee PC 1018P emerged

Some time back, we reported that Asus unveiled a couple of their new netbooks at the CeBIT event last month and now the most talked about model, the Eee PC 1018P has been spotted with a few details revealed and leaked.
For starters, the netbook comes with USB 3.0 ports and is 18mm thick. The device comes equipped with Pine Trail Atom N455 and N475 processors. Not forgetting Bluetooth 3.0 and USB 3.0 connectivity. Asus claims that the netbook has a long lasting battery life of 10 hours. The 1018P comes with a brushed aluminum chassis and measures 18mm thick. On one side, we can see the bright blue USB 3.0 ports and next to those is the Ethernet port.
It was mentioned at the CeBIT event that the netbook would have integrated 3G but Asus has yet to confirm whether it’s true. The netbook will come with about 1-2GB of RAM and a 250GB to 500GB hard-drive. It will also come with a 10.1-inch display that features a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. Other features include WiFi b/g/n together with Bluetooth 2.1+EDR (3.0 is optional). Since these are just leaked details, Asus has yet to comment on the price and release date of this product.
Red Dot Design Awards for Asus

Guess who won real accolades for their products? Asus. Asus has always put in lots of efforts when manufacturing their products and finally now all the effort has been paid off with the magnificent Red Dot Design Awards. The winning devices are the Republic of Gamers (ROG) Rampage III Extreme motherboard, Eee PC™ Seashell 1015 netbook, commercial series notebooks and the new ultra-slim series of Eee PC™ netbooks. All these devices came with innovative designs which is why Asus deserved the 2010 Red Dot Design Awards.
The vice-president of Asus said, “Innovative product design is in ASUS’ DNA, and our 100-strong international team of culturally-diverse designers is absolutely passionate about bringing form and function together in simple yet stylish and powerful ways”.

Toshiba to release tablets

Since Apple’s unveiled their iPad, many companies are rushing forward to unveil their tablets. Many tablets are expected to release this year as opposed to the previous years. This newly fond craze, which is thanks to Apple, will surely make consumers rejoice from the whole array of choices available.
Speaking of choices, there will be heavy competition in the market when there will be tons of tablets around. Major manufacturers are jumping on the wagon as well and the latest to do the honors is Toshiba.
If you remember some time before, we announced how Panasonic has released their Toughbook and Fusion Garage unveiled their JooJoo. Toshiba this week revealed that they will be releasing tablets based on Windows 7. There will be 10-inch screens. There will also be one based on Google Android. Nice to see that Toshiba is aiming to try tablets with different features. No word yet on when these Toshiba tablets will be released.
Sprint unveils 4G Case for iPad

We all remember how Sprint spiced up the EVO 4G from HTC and now they are about to do the same thing to the Apple iPad. This brings to light that the iPad doesn’t come with 4G but there are some 3G iPads around. For those who love and appreciate the 4G technology would certainly love the new Case for iPad.
Sprint has unveiled what they call the 4G Case which is a carrying case that has been made specially to be carried around by the iPad. It comes with 4G wireless hotspots that will allow the wireless iPad to connect to online anytime and anywhere. Sprint has produced the 4G Case from their Sprint technology consisting of the Sprint Overdrive Hotspot. What this does is, it allowed up to five devices to all connect at the same time. If you have the Apple iPad and are interested in opening up or widen your connections then surely the Sprint 4G Case is for you.
Asus unveils T101MT netbook

Since the Apple iPad was released, rival companies have been having nightmares. We really don’t want to name them but let’s just say that they are each trying hard to bring out something that will initially crash the iPad. Asus, on one hand, announced that they will, in fact, release a couple of nice PC tablets that are bound to throw the iPad off the track.
Speaking of something new, Asus has just unveiled their new convertible T101MT netbook. With just its looks, this netbook is set to score among the consumers. The Eee T101MT is a convertible netbook that comes with a 10.1-inch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 640. It runs on Intel processor’s Atom at the speed of 1.66GHz. The screen can be played with to make the netbook look like a tablet or even to use the netbook as a tablet. There’s also a 320GB of storage and a 2GB of RAM. Other features include Bluetooth, WiFi, Ethernet and VGA output memory card reader. Asus has yet to announce when they are planning to launch the Eee T101MT netbook.
Intel to develop the next generation of WiMax mobile broadband technology

Intel recently announced that they will be joining hands with big mobile companies such as Samsung & Motorola to develop, what they call, the next generation of WiMax mobile broadband technology. This new WiMax mobile broadband technology will help to provide a speed boost in 4G wireless data transfers.
These three renowned companies joined a new group called the WiMax 2 Collaboration Initiative. This new group will focus more on the development of standards and devices surrounding WiMax 2 technology. A representative for the group was quoted saying that the new standard will provide transfer rates of more than 300M bps at peak rates.
Samsung has been in the news a lot this year, particularly for the good reasons. They have been busy in launching new devices which include cell phones, notebooks and netbooks. The same goes for Motorola who’s hoping to gain a steady place in the market and in the heart of consumers.
